3D Filament ABS - Acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene
ABS is an impact-resistant filament that is ideal for 3D printing of spare parts, toys and tools. The material is light and durable. ABS is a preferred plastic for professional applications such as prototype construction. ABS can be smoothed with acetone.
Acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) is a synthetic terpolymer. It consists of the three monomers acrylonitrile, 1,3-butadiene and styrene. ABS is dimensionally stable and is easy to saw, drill and cut. Coating with metals and polymers is also possible (e.g. chrome-plated surfaces). The melting point of ABS is approx. 230°C to 250 °C, the long-term use temperature is max. 85 to 100 °C.
Similar plastics: ASA - Acrylic ester-styrene-acrylonitrile, SAN - styrene-acrylonitrile copolymer
