Plastic welding rods PBT - Polybutylene terephthalate
PBT (also PTMT or PBTP) is a thermoplastic material with high stiffness, low shrinkage and good friction and wear properties. It is hardly flammable and has a low water absorption. Painting with water-soluble varnishes is usually possible without pretreatment. PBT is used for housings and plugs in electrical engineering, household appliances and vehicle construction.
Polybutylene terephthalate (PBT) is a thermoplastic and is formed by polycondensation. PBT has high strength, stiffness, wear resistance and has good chemical resistance to many solvents. PBT is resistant to water, short-term also against hot water. It can be used with all processes customary in thermoplastics, such as welding, extrusion and injection molding. The melting point of PBT is about 210°C to 230°C, the continuous use temperature is -50°C to 150°C.
